The homeowners of this St. Paul, Minnesota, home had recently purchased the home from a relative. The stucco on the home was in rough shape, having been painted and many areas that needed to be repaired. We first sandblasted the existing stucco in order to remve the paint. Next, we needed to remove some patches of stucco that had been repaired previously, which were done improperly. There were also many areas that needed to be repaired in order to prepare the existing stucco for the new finish coat.

The homeowner wanted to match a color that she had seen on a different home. We made several samples for her, and she chose the one that she liked the best. We applied a knockdown dash texture to the entire home. The homeowners loved the final result, which transformed this old stucco house into the best-looking home on their block.

We applied a new stucco finish to the entire home, with the stucco color white and using a knockdown dash texture. We then applied a gray brushcoat to the foundation, to maintain the original appearance of the home. The homeowners will enjoy their new exterior for a long, long time!

Several years ago, we had repaired some small areas of stucco for a homeowner. This year, she called us again to inquire about refinishing all of the stucco on her home. The stucco on the house had previously been painted, which was peeling in numerous places. The stucco on the garage had a large bulge on the rear wall, which needed to be patched. We sandblasted the stucco on the home in order to remove the paint, and discovered a few areas that also needed to be repaired. We then returned to refinish the stucco on the house and garage. The homeowner was very happy, and said that she will recommend us to all of her friends!

The owners of this south Minneapolis home purchased the home several years ago. This year, they decided that they wanted to update the exterior of the home. The stucco had been painted by the previous owners, and the previous owners had also “repaired” the stucco on the chimney by installing a foam-based acrylic stucco product. In reality, they were hiding the real problems with the chimney…which were discovered while we were trying to repair the chimney the correct way.

We sandblasted the existing stucco in order to remove the paint. There were a few areas of the stucco that needed to be repairs on the home, but we knew the main repairs were going to be on the chimney. After we removed the foam that was on the lower portion of the chimney, it became evident that there was significant damage to the stucco on the chimney. Once we removed some of the loose stucco above the roofline, it was clear that the stucco wasn’t the only thing that was damage…the masonry inside the chimney was deteriorated beyond the point of repair. It was necessary to tear down the entire chimney, and rebuild it so that it was structurally safe and sound.

The chimney was rebuilt using concrete blocks, with natural stone accents. We installed new galvanized metal lath to the block, and then applied the base coats. Once the base coats on the chimney had cured, we applied a two-coat finish to the entire home. The project was a little more involved than the homeowners originally anticipated, but now can enjoy their beautiful new chimney and stucco for decades!

On this south Minneapolis bungalow just east of Lake Nokomis, we first needed to sandblast the existing stucco in order to remove paint. We needed to be very careful when sandblasting, as the aluminum trim on the home was brand new, due to improvements made by the Metropolitan Airports Commission. We patched several areas where the stucco was cracked, and where windows had been replaced. We worked closely with the homeowner to help him decide on a color for the refinished stucco, and he decided on a classic color that will look beautiful for many decades.

The homeowner was in the process of painting the wood trim around the windows, and had discovered some rotten areas of trim. We repaired several areas of rotten wood on the window trim. We also replaced the attic vents in the gables of the home. We patched several areas of the existing stucco, including the location of an old ice box, an area around a new door, and some various cracks.

We then refinished the stucco using a knock-down dash texture, in the color chosen by the homeowners. The stucco at the base of the home was refinished in a complementary color, using a trowel texture. The result was a beautiful new stucco finish on this classic home in south Minneapolis.

This beautiful home in Southwest Minneapolis near Minnehaha Creek underwent a complete stucco transformation. This stucco project started as just stucco installation to a small addition on the rear of the home. Through the process of construction, the contractor discovered other issues on the rear of the home, so we removed all of the stucco from the back of the house. This allowed the contractor to replace some windows, and to make repairs to the existing roof. We then installed new stucco to the addition and to the rear of the home. The homeowners also decided to have insulation blown into the walls of the rest of the home. To do this, the insulation contractor drills holes into the stucco in order to access the wall cavities. Then, they blow insulation into the spaces, and place a plug into the hole. We then patch the stucco to fill the holes.

The homeowners also decided that they wanted to refinish the stucco on the entire home. The existing stucco on the home had been previously painted. We sandblasted the old stucco to remove the paint, and did some various patching to prepare the stucco for a new finish coat. A beautiful new stucco finish was then applied to the entire home.

The stucco on this large duplex in South Minneapolis, near Uptown, had been previously painted. In order to refinish the stucco, we first needed to sandblast the existing stucco to remove the paint. We then patched several areas to prepare the existing stucco for the new two-coat finish. The end result was beautifully refinished stucco, which will last for decades.

The homeowner was so pleased that she sent a very nice thank-you card:

“I want to send a note of appreciation for the work on my house done by your staff. The house looks fabulous!

I really appreciated how promptly the work was done, how neat the area was left, and the helpfulness of your staff.

I especially want to thank you for the ‘little extras’ that were done to make life easier. Many, many thanks!

Mary H.”
